Aberdeen firm Faroe Petroleum has abandoned two prospects in the Norwegian Sea.
The T-Rex and Bolan fields were deemed unsuitable for commercial drilling purposes.
The firm won the rights for these 2 fields and 5 others in January with the drilling carried out by Maersk Oil.
Graham Stewart, Faroe Petroleum CEO, said: "We are
pleased to announce the presence of oil on both the T-Rex and the Bolan
prospects, but are disappointed the reservoir intervals were not as
thick as we had hoped for at this target location"
The firm is carrying on with its plans for the year drilling 3 new exploration wells in the coming months.
One of these wells is to be in the North Uist prospect off the west coast of Shetland.
