The annual player of the year awards voting for Aberdeen FC has been opened up.

The winner of the award, previously held by Richard Foster, will be announced at the player of the year award dinner held on the 1st of April at the AECC.

The voting, on Northsound 1 and Northsound 2’s websites also features a poll for goal of the season.

Voters are asked to choose between a selection of six high-profile Aberdeen players from this year.

The dinner is a much sought-after night out for any Dons fan and there are still spare tickets being advertised on the club's website. The favourite to take the award home is thought to be prolific striker Scott Vernon who has impressed vastly this year scoring seven goals this season, including a hat-trick against Dunfermline in September.

The players will have further chance to prove themselves this weekend as they take on Motherwell in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup.
