It has been suggested by Aberdeen City councilors that trade unions should take part in council committees about pensions.
Aberdeen City Council pensions panel convener, Neil Fletcher, said trade unions were "notably absent" from pension-related committees. He said: "The unions have been somewhat reluctant to put some forward.

"Dare I say it has something to do with them having to put their name to these decisions. I think involvement of our union colleagues would be good governance," he added.

Councilor Fletcher was speaking after education union EIS announced it would ballot members on a possible strike over pensions on the 28th of March.
